The Shitkickers began over a decade ago. Back in the day, when they would walk down the rough-and-ready, and often-stinky streets of Pierce and 7th Street, their only fan was a dog named Betty. A sweet hearted boxer, Betty knew a good thing when she heard it.

Utilizing mostly slave labor, Shawn Packer and Brian Christian formed a band of the likes no one had seen before. Upon forcing their drummer, Julie Freitas, into a life of servitude and virtual obscurity (you can barely see her behind the drums), they conned Branch Benson into playing bass. Josh Williams took over rhythm guitar duties when he mistook their practice space for a party going on down the street, and Murray Bowles…well, nobody really knows how he came about, not even The Google. The newest member, Big Brian, is said to have fallen in with the band of outlaws after he was seen expertly evading a posse of Texas Rangers, armed with only a twelve pack of beer, and piloting a “rascal” scooter.

A hillbilly band comprised of people born in the Valley, The Shitkickers wowed audiences across the country. Their album, recorded at the now-famous studio in Memphis named “Sun,” became the go-to and git-down music of downtown.
